House Captains


Year 6 children are eligible to apply and be appointed as House Captains and Vice Captains by the
Physical Education Teacher, after lodging a written application addressing the following criteria:-

  1. Potential for leadership
  2. Previous school and other sporting performance
  3. Attitude towards organisation and responsibility as displayed in PE class and general school life
  4. A selection panel incorporating the Physical Education Teacher, Senior Level Coordinators and a nominated outgoing Sports Captain interviews the short-listed students and selects 16 students to be appointed as Sports Captains and Vice-Captains

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Predominantly manage students’ sport and recreation needs and any functions requiring the
    House System or competition
  2. Distributing and collecting sports equipment at recess periods
  3. Assisting in the organisation of House Sports together with the House Teacher/s
  4. Organising and umpiring lunchtime games for Years 3-6 students

The House System:

  1. There are four houses; Lourdes (Blue); Fatima (Red); Carmel (Yellow) and MacKillop (Green)
  2. Students are allocated to Houses on enrolment, and will remain in the same House throughout their years at the school wherever possible. Every effort will be made to keep siblings in the same house
  3. Each House will have two Captains and two Vice-Captains appointed from Year 6 students
  4. The annual Year 3-6 Athletics and Cross Country Sports Shield will be presented to the winning House each year
